Coming this Fall American Idiot (The play)That's right Grammy award winning Green Day is helping Michael Mayer of Spring Awakening fame bring their hit record American Idiot to life on stage. The storyline of American Idiot follows a group of working class characters from the suburbs to the city to the Middle East, on there journey to find redemption in a troubled/crazy world. Songs from Green Day’s newest release, 21st Century Breakdown's will also be featured in the piece. Although the band is helping put together the play they will not appear on stage as part of the cast.
The World Premiere of American Idiot with the Book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, Lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, Music by Green Day, Choreographed by Steven Hoggett, Directed by Michael Mayer will be shown in a limited season at the Roda Theatre presented by the Berkeley Rep from September 4–October 11, 2009.
