Review of Spectacular! Spectacular! is Nickelodeon's wantabe Disney's High School Musical, which premiered this past February. It tells the story of an upcoming rock star named Nikko Alexander who just got kicked out of his band, when Courtney Lane (head a show choir named Spectacular!) tries to recruit him. He joins the group only for the money that the group will get if they win a national contest. There's young love, betrayal, drama, and much more.
Let me be the one to tell you, if you have yet to see Spectacular! yet then you are not missing anything. It was a couple of hours of my life I would love to have back. The acting was bad, the music was bad, and the story line was predictable. Most of all the dancing was horrible!!! Apparently the film did well in ratings and they are in plans to make another one (why!). The only good thing in the film was Nolan Gerard Funk who played Nikko Alexander. Nolan has a great voice despite all the cheesy songs he had to sing. I can see him playing Mortiz in Spring Awakening (hint, hint cast him for the national tour please).
So in conclusion do not waste your time on this film, go see the real High School Musical (1-3) or better yet wait for GLEE to return in the fall.
