Just in: Wayman Wong of the NY Daily News just reported that a stage version of the 1992 Disney musical Newsies based on the true story of the 1899 newsboy strike, is in the works.The men behind the film, composer Alan Menken and lyricist Jack Feldman are working on bringing Newsies to the Broadway stage with a new book being worked on by Harvey Fierstein. They have a reading scheduled for the Spring of 2010, no word on when a full staged production will be done. The film stared Christian Bale, David Moscow, and Bill Pullman is one of my FAVORITES! Though the movie is considered an initial failure at the box office it has gained a cult following over the years. I think it will do well on stage and look forward to hear more about the project!"Kings of the New York"-song from Newsies
