If you have not seen this movie you must be living under at rock! This beloved film tells the story of a Kansas girl named Dorothy who is trying to find a way home after a tornado which took up her house and lands in the wonderful world of Oz. The movie was adapted from L. Frank Baum’s book by the same name. Directed by Victor Fleming (also directed Gone With the Wind), and scored by Herbert Stothart, with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg.
The cast includes: Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow, Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion, Jack Haley as the Tin Woodman, Frank Morgan in six different roles, and Dorothy by the incomparable Judy Garland.
The Wizard of Oz won two Oscars® -- Best Song (“Over the Rainbow”) and Best Original Score -- plus a special award for Outstanding Juvenile Performance by Judy Garland.
Tomorrow 9/29/2009 Warner Home Video will release the film with a new 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition on DVD and Blu-ray. The new edition has hours of Enhanced Content, new documentaries, featurettes, a Sing-Along track, and much more.
